Maynooth, County Kildare
Located at Carton House, 30 minutes drive from Dublin’s city centre, is one of Ireland’s greatest estates. Carton House is a preserved historic mansion house surrounded by over 1,100 acres of mature parkland. The transformation of the estate into a first class golf resort began in 1999. In 2002, the first phase of the development saw the opening of the Mark O’Meara course. The course ranked by Golf World Magazine (Nov. 2002) as one of the top five new courses to open in Great Britain and Ireland. The O’Meara course is a masterpiece in aesthetic design. It utilises the majestic rolling land of the estate as well as the waters of the River Rye. Feature holes include the 14th, 15th and 16th. Each being classic, dramatic and beautiful and having water in play on all. The opportunity to gamble is paramount as is the sense of tranquillity that the holes create. The spirit and character of the land has been retained with minimal changes to the existing landscape. This par 72 course measures some 7,006 yards from the back tees.
