Dooks

Glenbeigh, County Kerry, Ireland

Golfers have been playing at Dooks Golf Club since 1889, making it one of Ireland’s oldest links. In the immediate foreground are the sand dune peninsulas of Inch Rossbeigh. Just a few miles further are the whitewashed houses of picturesque fishing village of Cromane. The McGillycuddy Reeks (highest mountains in Ireland) are to the southeast and to the north are Slieve Mish and Dingle mountains. All combine to create a beautiful and tranquil environment in which to enjoy golf. The layout is very natural in that greens lay where they fell. Peter Dobereiner described Dooks very well when he said, “it was a dreamlike experience, playing over the rolling hills and guessing often wrongly, which hollow would harbour a green”.
