Waterville

Waterville, County Kerry, Ireland

The history of golf at Waterville Golf Club dates from 1889 when staff at the local trans-Atlantic cable station played the game. The fortunes of the club varied and the golf links became idle until the late 1960’s when John A. Mulcahy and Eddie Hackett came up with a design that has brought much acclaim to Waterville Golf Club and more recently Tom Fazio has overseen some course re-design. The front nine holes start out gently before moving to the larger dunes along the shore line. There have been many famous visitors to Waterville including Raymond Floyd who said, “this is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen it has some of the finest golf links holes I have ever played”.
