Hi, Susan.
We made it back alive from what both of us thought was a fabulous trip. We were very lucky with the weather, only rained 4 days out of the 18 – and it was only showers, not round stoppers. There were several days when the wind was probably 40 mph, which made hitting the ball very interesting but was great fun. We enjoyed the absolute stunning beauty of Old Head, which was very similar in many ways to Kauri Cliffs. We also enjoyed the almost 2500 km of beautiful Irish scenery we saw on the road. We squeezed in Dingle on the one free Sunday we had and played Portmarnock on the Thursday we had open prior to our departure. No complaints to note, although it was a little difficult using the GPS without the windshield mount. Also, I doubt anyone will follow our busy agenda (many of the Irish we talked to were in awe), but now having made the trip and seeing how large Tralee was (even had a McDonalds!), we think we could have stayed there for four nights (vice Ballybunion and Killarney) and covered Ballybunion(s), Tralee, and even Waterville and still been able to see Killarney and the environs. It would have been fairly easy for us to make the drives to/from the courses and being in one place for that period would have been a blessing. But that is a minor observation made in hindsight now that we are experts on Ireland.
Again, kudos to you and your staff for arranging an absolutely super trip. John and I are probably going to look at Scotland next summer because this trip went so smoothly and will certainly keep you in mind, we will definitely recommend you to any of our friends who ask us about setting up a trip to Ireland.
